Prices and quotes

How much will my decorating cost?

Every job is different, so Peter doesn’t publish set prices. The cost depends on the size of the room or area, the condition of the walls and woodwork, how much preparation is needed, and the finish you want.

The quickest way to find out is a free, no-obligation quote. Tell Peter about the job in about a minute, or call or text 07796 958 326.

Are quotes free?

Yes. Quotes are free and there’s no obligation to go ahead. Peter looks at the job, then gives you a written estimate that lists the work room by room, so you know exactly what’s included.

Do you charge VAT?

No. PW Painter & Decorator is not VAT registered, so no VAT is added to your price.

How do I pay?

Payment is due when the work is finished, by bank transfer or cash.

Areas Peter covers

Which areas do you cover?

Peter is based in Spixworth and works across Norwich and the surrounding villages, including Horsham St Faith, Old Catton, Sprowston, Hellesdon, Horsford, Rackheath, Drayton, Taverham and Wroxham. If you’re nearby but don’t see your village, just ask. More about Peter in Spixworth.

Do you work in Norwich itself?

Yes. As well as the villages around Spixworth, Peter decorates homes and businesses across Norwich.

You used to work in Essex. Are you local now?

Yes. Peter spent thirty years decorating homes in Essex, where he won a Quality Business Award in 2026, and has now moved to Spixworth. Some of the reviews and photos on this site are from those Essex jobs. He’s taking bookings in Norwich and the surrounding villages from January 2027.

The work

Do you supply the paint and materials?

Yes. Materials are included in your quote, and Peter uses paints suited to each surface, such as hard-wearing finishes for woodwork and moisture-resistant paint for kitchens and bathrooms. If you’ve already bought your own paint, just let him know.

Can you help me choose colours?

Yes. Peter is happy to share what works well in similar rooms and how a colour will look on your walls, but the final choice is always yours.

How long does a job take?

It depends on the size of the job and how much preparation it needs. As a rough guide, a single room usually takes a couple of days, and a hall, stairs and landing a little longer. Your estimate will tell you how long your job should take.

Do I need to move my furniture?

There’s no need to empty the room. Peter moves or covers furniture and protects floors and fittings before he starts. It helps if you put away small items and ornaments beforehand.

Will there be a lot of mess?

Everything is covered with dust sheets and taped before work starts, and Peter tidies up at the end of every day, so you can still use your home while the work is done. All waste is taken away when he finishes.

Do I need to be at home while you work?

Only if you want to be. Customers often leave Peter to work while they’re out at work or away. One came back from holiday to find the house “as clean as when we left it”.

Do you do small jobs?

Yes, no job is too small: from a single feature wall or a front door to a whole house, inside and out. See all services.

Do you paint outside in winter?

Outside work depends on the weather, because paint needs dry conditions and the right temperature to last. Exterior jobs are usually planned for spring and summer, while autumn and winter are ideal for decorating indoors.

Do you work for businesses and landlords?

Yes. As well as homes, Peter decorates shops, offices and rental properties, and can plan the work around your opening hours or tenants.
